Summer over….Autumn!
After the heatwaves we’ve had some rain! My garden is grateful and I am finally able to sleep at night…..but it does mean that my fabulous summer wardrobe will soon have to be packed away. BUT wait, with Autumn comes opportunity for layering and transitional pieces which will help you get further wear from the summer outfits you have loved for months.
The key is in transitional pieces like knitted vest/waistcoats to wear over a graphic tee or a maxi dress as an extra layer, a light piece of knitwear (crochet is ideal and very on trend at the moment) or a fine layer. I have just invested in a cashmere mix mesh layer in a leopard print from South of the River - an independent boutique which sells online. This leopard layer I will pair with a shirt dress - like the fabulous hunter green version from M&S - swap out the self tie belt with a leopard belt, have the leopard layer showing at the neckline as well as from under the short sleeves of the shirt dress and finally a pair of leopard flats or even kitten heel boots.
On my transitional list is :
- Faux leather jacket from my wardrobe
- Orange crochet bolero style cardigan from M&S
- Chilli red knitted waistcoat from M&S (quick they are in the sale for £5)!
- Knitted co-ord set - maxi skirt and rever collar shirt such as Never Fully Dressed
